The School of Graduate Studies is accepting nominations for the 2024 SSHRC Impact Awards (Talent Category) until February 9.

The $50,000 award is given by SSHRC to a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow each year to recognize academic excellence, talent for research and knowledge mobilization, and the potential to be a future leader. This annual award can be used as a fellowship to fund the recipient’s research over one year, or may be used to support research, knowledge mobilization or other research-related activities.

To be eligible for the award you must:

  • be a current graduate student or postdoctoral fellow

  • be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

  • hold a SSHRC fellowship or scholarship at the time of application (April 1, 2024)

How to apply:

Important: Students should not submit an application. Instead, kindly reach out to your supervisor for the nomination process.

To apply, please ask your supervisor to send the following documents by February 9 to cecilia.kramar@concordia.ca:

  • a written justification (up to 3 pages) that outlines the rationale for this nomination according to the award’s selection criteria

  • your CV

These justifications will be reviewed internally by the School of Graduate Studies who will then select a single institutional nomination for Concordia University. The selected nominee will have to compile a competitive application (which includes letters of reference) before the award’s final submission on April 1, 2024.
