Merry night for international students
Concordia University international students who may not have a chance to get home for the holidays are invited to gather on December 20 for a tasty holiday meal and festive dancing on a frosty night.
Concordia has a tradition of welcoming international students, who account for some 14 per cent of its enrolment of 46,000.
It’s expected that 350 international students will converge for the holiday party, which is organized by Concordia’s Advancement and Alumni Relations in collaboration with the Concordia University Alumni Association.
Top Montreal DJ James Karls will keep the dance floor busy at Espace Réunion in Outremont.
“Concordia reflects Montreal’s many cultures,” says President Alan Shepard. “The International Students Holiday Party is one of the ways that we welcome young people from around the world who have come to study at our university.”
“This Concordia tradition always brings smiles to the faces of our international students,” says Marie Claire Morin, vice-president of Advancement and Alumni Relations. “While some may be far from their loved ones over the holidays, they will enjoy a friendly atmosphere of warmth and goodwill with plenty of seasonal cheer.”
“The holiday party is a highly anticipated event for international students,” says Concordia alumnus and Kenya native Andrew Mwachiro. “It’s a wonderful time to be with kindred spirits from around the world.”
