Happy holidays from Advancement and Alumni Relations
We are at the cusp of joyous times -- the holidays and New Year -- rites of passage that give us pause to celebrate with family and friends. As we prepare to welcome a new calendar year, many of us will look back on the past 12 months and consider ways to advance our lives.
At Concordia, we take this opportunity to look back and offer 25,000 thanks.

Thanks to our alumni, donors, friends, faculty, staff and retirees, Concordia received 24,995 gifts during the 2011-2012 fiscal year. That generosity totaled $9.4 million -- support that will propel knowledge and improve access to education at our university.
Gifts from the Concordia community were designated towards bursaries and scholarships, research centres, open access to information and some 500 areas of giving that help the university achieve its mission to improve society.
As I look back to 2012, I can hardly believe one year has passed since I joined the Concordia family as vice-president of Advancement and Alumni Relations.
The last 365 days have been stimulating. I have been inspired by the determination of our students, the dedication of our faculty and staff and the trust we continue to build with our alumni, donors and friends.
My position has given me a front-row seat to observe big thinking from the Concordia community -- big thinking that will improve our lives and our world.
Albert Einstein once wisely said, "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning."
On the eve of 2013, I encourage each of you to continue questioning ways to improve our society. I also wish you happy and safe holidays as well as a joyous New Year.
For anyone who would like to make a tangible difference in the lives of our students, I encourage you to make a donation to Concordia's Annual Giving campaign.
