Earth’s longest-running urban legend -- the ancient Mayan prophecy that the world will end on December 21, 2012 -- will be tested in three short months.

David Adelman, a student reporter from Concordia’s Department of Journalism, investigated apocalyptic questions from then and now by interviewing Lorenzo DiTommaso who is a doomsday scenario expert and professor in the Department of Religion.

In his video, Adelman discusses apocalyptic scenarios with DiTommaso that will be part of his upcoming talk, “The last lecture? Apocalypse then and now.

DiTommaso’s lecture will be moderated by alumna Caroline Van Vlaardingen, BA 84, a CTV Montreal journalist and host of the “On-Your-Side” segment. She recently won the Dan McArthur Award, from the Radio and Television News Directors Association, for her in-depth investigative report entitled, “Dirty Little Secret” (Part 1, Part 2).
