David Devine, EMBA 88, is Canada's new High Commissioner to Guyana

David Devine was appointed High Commissioner to Guyana, Ambassador to Suriname and Canadian Representative to CARICOM, an economic organization of 15 Carribean nations, in July.

Since Devine graduated from Concordia University's Executive MBA program in 1988, he's enjoyed a storied journey working for the Canadian government.

Devine joined the Department of External Affairs and International Trade to work with the Free Trade Agreement Management Branch and the Tariff and Market Access Division in 1989. From 1995 to 2000, he was deputy director, then acting director, of investment trade policy, before becoming director of the Softwood Lumber Division in 2000. In 2003, he became director of trade policy consultations and liaison. In 2007, he became counselor and senior trade commissioner in Tokyo, Japan.
