Concordia University Hosts 10th Annual International Students Holiday Party
MONTREAL/December 21, 2009— Concordia University is pleased to host the 10th Annual International Students Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 23,at 6:30 p.m. at the Nouvel Hôtel and Spa (1740 René-Lévesque Blvd., W.).
This annual tradition is aimed at instilling a sense of community and belonging in Concordia’s international and out-of-province students, many of whom are spending the holiday away from their families.
“We’re delighted to mark our 10th year of being able to offer this heartwarming celebration to our international and out-of-province students,” says Judith Woodsworth, Concordia President and Vice-Chancellor. “We take immense pride in the fact that their presence enriches all our lives. They bring a diversity of cultures and perspectives to Concordia’s campuses, and strengthen our reputation for openness and spirit of unity. As their hosts in Montreal, it is our duty to welcome them with warmth and care for them as we would our closest friends.”
“The Concordia University Alumni Association (CUAA) boasts more than 158,000 alumni worldwide and the number of its international chapters is increasing. This growth stems from the fact that many alumni have told us about their rewarding, on-campus experiences as Concordia students. Our Association funds student programs that are meant to enhance this experience and ensures that alumni remember their alma mater fondly wherever they are in the world,” says Mary Chronopoulos, CUAA President.
Concordia boasts close to 44,000 students of all ages and backgrounds, including slightly more than 4,400 international students from more than 150 countries. About 250 of these students are expected to attend this dinner hosted by the CUAA and the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations.
