Changes to NSLSC (National Student Loans Service Centre) Login Process

The NSLSC will begin using My Service Canada Account (MSCA) for student authentication. This means students will now sign in to their secure NSLSC account through MSCA. MSCA allows users to access multiple government services such as Canada Apprentice Loan and Employment Insurance benefits with a single login. While this change does not impact the application and needs assessment processes with provinces and territories, it does impact both the NSLSC welcome messages and the process for students to create an account to complete the Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) and receive their funds.

What students need to know:

  1. Register for MSCA: If students do not already have an MSCA, they should create an account now to ensure a smooth transition. Although they will not be able to use MSCA to access their NSLSC account until May 25, 2025, setting it up ahead of time will prevent any interruptions when the transition occurs.
  2. Continue using the current login process until May 24, 2025: Students should continue using their existing NSLSC login credentials (GCKey or Sign-in Partner) to access their account until May 24, 2025. After that date, they will need to sign in through MSCA.

If students already have an MSCA, they’re all set! Starting May 25, 2025, they can access their NSLSC account through MSCA.

For the majority of users, creating an MSCA will be quick and straightforward. However, should new users require a Personal Access Code (PAC), they will need to wait several business days to receive the code by mail, which could delay funding. Please encourage students to create and verify their MSCA early and ensure they can access their NSLSC account without interruption following the migration to MSCA on May 25, 2025.
