Alumna Cherry Marshall headed to Ottawa
As of January 2027, Cherry Marshall, BA 06, MA 10, will serve as inaugural president of the Foundation for the Canadian Museum of History and Canadian War Museum.
Cherry Marshall, BA 06, MA 10, will soon oversee fundraising for two national museums.
As of January 2027, Marshall will serve as inaugural president of the Foundation of the Canadian Museum of History and Canadian War Museum, a new charity that will lead fundraising on behalf of the Ottawa-based institutions.
Until December 2026, Marshall will continue serving as associate vice-president, Development, at Concordia. During her nine years at the university, she held progressively senior fundraising roles, including principal director of Development for the Faculty of Fine Arts.
She was an integral part of the university’s largest fundraising campaign, which raised $365 million. As head of development, Marshall brought advanced metrics, strategy sessions and increased collaboration with campus community, volunteers and benefactors.
Prior to her time at Concordia, Marshall fundraised for Trans Canada Trail and Food Banks Canada.
“I am honoured to take on the role of inaugural president of the Foundation of the Canadian Museum of History and Canadian War Museum, says Marshall.
“Having long admired the work of both institutions, I look forward to collaborating with expert staff, volunteers, donors and partners to raise awareness and philanthropic support for both Crown corporations.”
Paul Chesser, BA 94, GrDip 97, Concordia’s vice-president of Advancement, says Marshall was a keystone of his leadership team. “Cherry secured critical support and, under her mentorship, our development team grew our fundraising success.”
“She provided critical guidance throughout her time in Advancement,” he adds. “We take great pride in her past and future accomplishments.”
Marshall adds that she is grateful for her time at Concordia. “I had the great opportunity to collaborate with a great team and develop relationships with donors who are deeply engaged in Concordia’s success.”
