Wildfires, Heatwaves and Drought: The New Reality of Canadian Summers

As the summer season becomes increasingly marked by extreme weather conditions — heatwaves, prolonged droughts and wildfires — how are communities adapting to these changes? What strategies can we consider to better respond to these challenges?
Experts are available to analyze the impacts of climate change on the environment, communities, and public policy.
Youmin Zhang, Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace Engineering and the Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation

Mehmet Özsoy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance, is available to analyze and comment on the economic impacts of drought, particularly on SMEs and regional banks.
His research shows that prolonged droughts can undermine the stability of regional banks as much as a one per cent rise in unemployment, pushing these institutions to withdraw from affected areas.
