Impact of STM strike on bus and metro service

Maintenance employees for Montreal's transit authority, the STM, have announced a strike from November 1 – November 28.

  • Essential metro and bus services (morning and evening peak hours) will remain in place however there may be slowdowns. Adapted public transit will not be impacted.
  • Daytime classes before 5 p.m. will continue in person as usual.
  • Evening and night classes starting at or after 5 p.m.: Professors may move classes online at their discretion or reschedule assessments; please check with your instructor.
  • Midterm exams scheduled for Saturday November 1 will be rescheduled.

In addition, STM bus drivers, metro operators, station attendants, and paratransit drivers have tentatively planned a three-day strike on November 1, 15, and 16, however, details for these weekend strike days have not yet been published.

In the event of a complete absence of transit service this Saturday, November 1, in-person classes and academic activities will be moved online or rescheduled: please check with your instructor.

The STM encourages commuters to consider other modes of transportation, where possible.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation, patience, and respect during this labour action.
