Dear Concordia students,

I hope all of you have had a wonderful year at Concordia and are ready for the summer break.

If you are continuing on with university learning and research, well done! I hope to see you back at Concordia this fall.

My first year at the university has been an exciting and happy one, for me and for my family. I have appreciated the warm welcome we have received from the Concordia community. It’s also been great to have a chance to meet so many students, faculty, staff and alumni.

This has been an important year for Quebec universities and for Concordia. The education summit was a good effort to renew the dialogue on the future of our universities and colleges. One challenge in recent months has been to address the cutbacks in our operating grant from the Government of Quebec.

Throughout the budget process at Concordia, we have remained committed to strengthening our academic sector and managing our costs as efficiently as possible. It’s been inspiring to see our community come together to surmount these challenges. It’s another reason why I think our university and our people have a great future together.

Enjoy the summer and see you soon!

Alan Shepard
President
