New scholarship from Pfizer
Accountancy co-operative education student Sin-Ly Chea and finance co-op student Cynthia Perna were the first winners of the new Pfizer Canada Co-op Award of Excellence in Accountancy and Finance. This award acknowledges two outstanding students in the accountancy and finance co-op programs who also actively participate in volunteer work or extra-curricular activities promoting healthier communities. The awards were handed out at the May 30 Co-op Awards Recognition Event.
Accounting firms RSW and Collins Barrow are employers of numerous co-op students from Concordia and were the first corporate donors to recognize accountancy co-op students with awards. Both firms have been cited for the quality of the work terms and supervision they have provided to our co-op students over the years.
Claudia Caron-Boutin was selected as an accountancy co-op student who has demonstrated leadership abilities. She received the RSW Award of Excellence in Accounting for Entrepreneurial Businesses. On hand from the firm were Human Resource Director Stephen Reisler and Partner Peter Linardakis.
Accountancy co-op student Alexander Garofalo received the Collins Barrow Accountancy Co-op Award of Excellence, recognizing his strong academic background and excellence in the areas of accounting and tax. Collins Barrow Partner Tyna Jallet was in attendance.
Gerry Hughes, director of the Institute for Co-operative Education, expressed his gratitude to all the prize sponsors, noting their participation brings tangible recognition to co-op students. “We value our employers’ partnership and ongoing support of our program and students. On behalf of everyone at co-op, thank you for your generosity. It makes a big difference to our students.”
