Norman Hébert, Jr., chair of Concordia’s Board of Governors, has been honoured by the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA).

Hébert, a Concordia alumnus, won the 2012 CADA Laureate dealer recognition award in the category of Ambassadorship. He is the long-time president and chief executive officer of Montreal-area car dealership Groupe Park Avenue Inc.

“It’s an exceptional and prestigious honour,” says Al MacPhee, chairman of CADA, the national association for franchised new car and truck dealerships.

Each year since 2006, an independent committee selects 15 finalists out of more than 3,200 dealers from across Canada. Judges from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario pick the three laureates.

“Norman Hébert is a standout, even amongst this illustrious group,” says June Cotte, one of the judges and an associate professor of marketing at the Ivey School of Business. “Norman Hébert has been an ambassador for automobile dealers in the greater community.”

“Having been nominated by my peers and selected by an independent panel makes this honour even more special,” Hébert says. “I am also very touched to be the first car dealer in Quebec to have been selected as a winner.”

Christian Chia of OpenRoad Auto Group in Richmond, B.C., and Trevor Boquist of Bennett-Dunlop Ford Sales Limited in Regina were the other 2012 recipients.
