Concordia closed December 22 to January 2

Find out which services will be reduced or unavailable during the holiday period

The holiday season is upon us. Unless specified below, departments and services will close at the end of the day on Friday, December 21, and reopen the morning of Thursday, January 3, 2013.


Campus security will remain staffed 24 hours a day during the holiday period and can be reached by dialing 3717 from an internal phone or 514-848-3717 from an outside line.

Libraries
Here is the holiday schedule for the Webster Library (in the J.W. McConnell Library Building, 1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.) and the Vanier Library (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.).

Friday, December 21: Libraries close at 5 p.m.
Saturday, December 22 to Wednesday, December 26: Closed.
Thursday, December 27* to Saturday, December 29: Open 24 hours for study only. Libraries will close at 10 p.m. on December 29.
Sunday, December 30 to Wednesday, January 2: Closed.
Thursday, January 3*, 2013, to Friday, January 4: Open 24 hours for study only.
Saturday, January 5 to Sunday, January 6: Open 24 hours for study only.
Monday, January 7: Regular hours and services resume.

* Please Note: The Libraries open at 8:30 a.m. on both December 27 and January 3.

Office, studio and laboratory access
Staff, faculty, graduate students and authorized undergraduate students may access offices, studios and laboratories on both campuses at all times during the holiday period by presenting their Concordia identification at the building security desk.

Facilities
In an effort to reduce unnecessary expenses, energy conservation measures are in effect from Saturday, December 22, 2012, to Wednesday, January 2, 2013, inclusively. All non-essential ventilation systems will be turned off.

Shuttle bus service
The last Shuttle bus leaves both campuses at 7:45 p.m. on December 21 and regular service will resume on January 3.

IITS Service Desk
The Service Desk is closed during the holiday from December 21 at 5 p.m. and will reopen January 3.

Le Gym (Sir George Williams Campus) and Le Centre (Loyola Campus)
Fitness enthusiasts have until Friday, December 21 at 10 p.m. (* corrected) and until December 23 at noon at Le Gym and Le Centre, respectively, to squeeze in one last workout before the holiday. Both gyms reopen January 3.

Employee Assistance Program
Despite the closure of the university, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) remains available to employees around the clock, seven days a week. For support and service, contact Concordia’s external provider, Shepell-fgi, at the following numbers:

Multifaith Chaplaincy closes on December 21 at 5 p.m. and reopens on January 3 at 9 a.m.

Dean of Students Office and the Concordia University Student Parents Centre
Both are closed for the holiday period from December 21 at 5 p.m. until January 3 at 9 a.m.

The Birks Student Service Centre closes on December 21 at 6 p.m. and reopens on January 3 at 10 a.m.

Independently owned stores and restaurants on campus
If you’re planning to grab a bite at one of the independently owned restaurants and shops on campus during the holiday, verify its hours of operation beforehand, as they vary.
