In Memoriam: Everett Price
Following a prolonged illness, Everett Melbourne Price passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 19, 2012, at the Montreal General Hospital at the age of 71.
He was an accomplished individual with a passion for Canadian politics. A political science professor at Concordia University since August 1972, he began his career as an associate professor in the Canadian Studies Program.
Everett was the first chair of Concordia’s Department of Political Science and founder of the master of arts program in public policy and public administration. He established internship programs with the Quebec government as well as with the Public Service Commission of Canada.
In recent years, he focused his research on international academic exchange programs between universities in Brazil, Mexico, France and Italy. The central emphasis related to the influences exerted by multinational corporations upon international alliances.
“Everett was a passionate teacher, a generous colleague and an exemplary citizen,” says Department of Political Science Chair Csaba Nikolenyi. “His deep knowledge and acute sense of political life benefited generations of Concordia political science students both in the classroom and beyond.
“Our master’s program, the internship connections with the federal and provincial governments, and the imminent creation of a master's double diploma with Grenoble are but a few of the legacies of his vision and academic leadership that we were so fortunate to gain from. His passing is an irreplaceable loss for us all.”
Everett Melbourne Price is survived by his loving wife Maria Peluso, who also belongs to the Department of Political Science and serves as president of the Concordia University Part-Time Faculty Union, and cherished children Kursteen and Roy John, and grandchildren Vaughn, Nadia-Jane, Finley, Manan and Maella.
He will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched and in particular his students and colleagues at Concordia.

In celebration of Price’s life and remarkable influence, Concordia is holding a memorial service.
When: Sunday, September 30 from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m.
