Students in the Department of Design and Computation Arts will once again exhibit their sustainable designs at the annual Salon international du design d’intérieur de Montréal (SIDIM).

SIDIM, the Montreal International Interior Design Show, is Canada’s largest meeting for both designers and designophiles. The show allows students to display and discover new products and trends in international design, and to network with industry professionals and consumers.

On view will be the multi-purpose, functional, attractive and ecologically responsible furnishings designed for the Maison du développement durable by students under the supervision of professor Martin Racine.

Among them is a lectern designed by Alexandre Cameron Royer (pictured at right). Constructed entirely with raw materials such as wood, steel and glass, the design of the piece was inspired by the shape of the building in which it will be used. The piece features an engraved, back-lit glass panel that will create a stunning visual effect during presentations.

Visitors to SIDIM will find the Concordia designers in the Quebec eco-design area.

SIDIM runs from May 26 to 28, 2011 at Place Bonaventure (800 de la Gauchetière St. W.). Tickets are available at the door: $15 regular, $10 for seniors and students.
