Sustainable Concordia is looking for 20 interns over the next academic year. Concordia’s green thumbs, urban thinkers, researchers and designers can all apply.

“Seeing as Sustainable Concordia is an educational organization, part of our mandate is to increase sustainability awareness and create engagement,” says Mariam Masud, Concordia’s Sustainability Coordinator.

“A great way to create engagement is through internships,” Masud says.

Half of the interns, who will all be working for course credit, will be tasked with helping create the Concordia Campus Sustainability Assessment.

Written every three years, the assessment looks at the university’s sustainability efforts from top to bottom, while identifying  how the campus can continue improving.

“We are looking for people to identify the areas which interest them,” says Masud. “With things to do with the physical environment, built environment, waste management or transportation, amongst other areas.”

Applicants should show a willingness to work in teams or autonomously, the ability to do research, look at best practices and write.

With 48 staffers, Sustainable Concordia is the first university sustainability group in Canada funded and staffed by administrators and students.

Applicants should contact Mariam Masud before the end of July.
