Faculty and staff recognized for dedication and excellence

Faculty and staff at Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business were celebrated at the third edition of the Dean’s Awards ceremony on December 9, 2010. The annual ceremony showcases the business school’s finest professors and employees. Dean Sanjay Sharma welcomed the audience and said: “This event pays tribute to the faculty who have demonstrated outstanding scholarly and teaching efforts, and to the staff who have made a difference in the lives of our students and colleagues.”

Awards were presented in three different categories: Dean’s Award for Distinguished Scholarship; Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence; and Dean’s Staff Recognition Award. Members of the university community, Harjeet Bhabra, Associate Dean, Research and Research Programs, John Molson School of Business; Christopher Trueman, Associate Dean, Academic Affairs, Engineering and Computer Science; and Noel Burke, Dean, School of Extended Learning, served as selection committee chairs and were delighted to present the awards to the recipients.

Dean’s Award for Distinguished Scholarship
•    Junior Scholar Award: Yaxuan Qi, Assistant Professor, Department of Finance
•    Mid-Scholar Award: Rustam Vahidov, Associate Professor, Department of DS&MIS

Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence
•    Full-time undergraduate: Jordan Le Bel, Associate Professor, Department of Marketing
•    Full-time graduate: Mehdi Farashahi, Associate Professor, Department of Management
•    Part-time: Carmen Kuczewski, Department of Accountancy

Dean’s Staff Recognition Award
•    Patrice Bayne, Technician, CIT
•    Mary Genova, Manager, CIT
•    Sharon Nelson, Assistant Director, EMBA
