The Dean of Concordia's Faculty of Fine Arts, Catherine Wild, has announced the appointment of Helen Athanassiadis as Director of Administration, effective February 14, 2011.

Reporting to the Dean, Athanassiadis will be responsible for all aspects of administration and provide leadership in the planning and managing of Fine Arts human resources. She will oversee the administration of the Dean’s Office and work collaboratively with the Faculty’s academic units to develop effective and efficient operational strategies to meet academic objectives.

Athanassiadis brings extensive university administrative experience to the position. She is currently the Administrator of the Departments of Music, Theatre and Contemporary Dance, a position she has held since May 2009. Since that time she has played a leading role in the move of the three performing arts departments to the downtown campus and managed the consolidation of facilities and administration in the MB and GM buildings.

Prior to joining Concordia, Athanassiadis held the role of Program Administrator for Continuing Education’s language programs and Administrator in the Faculty of Engineering, at McGill University. Beyond the university milieu, she has worked as a human resources manager in the high-technology sector.

Athanassiadis replaces Shirley McLeod, who retired after 33 successful years at Concordia.
