Forensic anthropologist and writer, aeronautical pioneer, business leader to be honoured
Concordia University awards three honorary doctorates at fall convocation
Montreal, November 17, 2011 – Concordia University will grant three honorary doctorates during fall convocation ceremonies to be held November 22 at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place des Arts (175 Ste-Catherine St. W.). The three distinguished recipients will join more than 1,500 students from across Concordia’s four Faculties and the School of Graduate Studies graduating this fall.
10 a.m. - Faculty of Arts and Science
Kathy Reichs, PhD, DABFA, forensic anthropologist, bestselling author of more than a dozen novels and producer of Bones, the televisions series based on her books, is being recognized for her groundbreaking work in demystifying and popularizing the process of criminal investigation. One of only 88 forensic anthropologists certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology, Reichs divides her times between Montreal and Charlotte, N.C.
3 p.m. - Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science and Faculty of Fine Arts
Xavier-Henri Hervé, BSc (Mech. Eng.), President of one of the fastest growing producers of flight simulation systems, Mechtronix World Corp. and president and COO of Mechtronix Systems Inc., is being honoured for his commitment to thinking outside traditional boundaries in order to lead the way in the production of innovations in the aeronautical industry.
7:30 p.m. - John Molson School of Business
Robert Courteau, BComm, president of the North American division of the multinational corporation SAP, the global leader in enterprise application software, will receive an honorary doctorate in recognition of his significant contributions to the advancement of information technology in Canada and his involvement in community organizations.
