  • Damon Matthews, professor and Concordia Research Chair in Climate Science and Sustainability in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment of the Faculty of Arts and Science, is quoted in an article inLe Huffington Post Québec that directly challenges the position held by the Quebec government that natural gas is a viable option in the transition from fossil fuel to clean energy. The article references the research in this area conducted by Matthews, who the publication notes is a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The article links to an earlier piece in Le Devoir (September 6, 2017) where Matthews questions the merits of natural gas, which he notes is a fossil fuel and not "clean energy".
