Expert commentators
Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:
- Michel Magnan, professor of accountancy and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Corporate Governance in the John Molson School of Business, is quoted in a piece in Les affaires about what the publication says promises to be a record year for corporate mergers and acquisitions in Canada.
- A CNW/Telbec release announces that Charmaine Lyn, senior director of Concordia's Office of Community Engagement and a special advisor to the provost on Indigenous Directions, has been sworn in as a new member of Quebec's Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse.
- Lorna Roth, communication studies professor in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is quoted in an article in Fortune, where she describes "Shirley cards" — color reference cards used in photography — and how, for decades, color photography fed into a racial bias that favoured white people over darker-skinned people. The online piece includes a link to a Vox video about the Shirley cards, where Roth is heard off-camera.
- Boston College announces that Gearóid Ó hAllmhuráin, Concordia Johnson Chair in Quebec/Canadian Irish Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science, will give a lecture and performance at the College this evening to mark the start of a series of Boston College events exploring Irish, Scottish, American and related folk music traditions.
