Various issues concerning Concordia University are often reported on by news outlets. Here is the most recent coverage pertaining to the institution:
- Several media announce federal funding for Concordia's SOMEONE (SOcial Media EducatiONEvery day) initiative, led by Vivek Venkatesh, associate professor of education in the Faculty of Arts and Science. The funding will support SOMEONE's efforts to sensitize the public, notably youth, to patterns of online hate and to better understand how hate speech is produced and used online. The funding was officially announced in a CNW release, where Venkatesh is quoted. The release was picked up by Markets Insider and TulsaCW.com. Venkatesh discussed the new funding for SOMEONE in an interview on CBC Radio Montreal's 'Homerun' yesterday afternoon (no link available) and this morning on CJAD Radio (no link available). V-Télé (no link available) also reported on the news.
- Narcity notes that Concordia places 431st in the QS World University Rankings for 2018, which it notes is an improvement over its 2017 ranking of 461st. Note that the publication erroneously credits the QS ranking to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
