- The Montreal Gazette prints two opinion pieces by students in Concordia' Public Scholars program, in the launch of a series resulting from a partnership between Concordia and the Gazette: in the first, Concordia Public Scholar Alex McClelland co-authors an article with University of Toronto PhD student Gillian Kolla about the right to confidentiality of people who participate in research projects in Canada; in the second, Erin O'Loughlin, PhD candidate in health and exercise psychology and Concordia Public Scholar, writes about the benefits to otherwise-sedate adolescents of active videogaming, or "exergaming", as with the games Pokémon Go and Dance Dance Revolution. O'Loughlin sees exergaming as a healthier alternative to binge-playing regular video games. Lucinda Chodan, editor-and-chief of the Montreal Gazette, publishes an editor’s note (‘From the editor’s notebook’) about the partnership between Concordia’s Public Scholars and the Montreal Gazette (no link available).
- University of Nairobi reports that it has entered into discussions with Concordia on strengthening the existing partnership between the two universities in the areas of research, pedagogy and educational technology. The announcement includes news of the awarding of a $2.5-million Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Canada grant, to be shared by Concordia, University of Nairobi and others partners for research on the use of educational technology to enhance educational competencies in Sub-Saharan Africa.
