Expert commentators
Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:
- Antoine Rayroux, assistant professor of political science in the Faculty of Arts and Science, was called upon by media to provide analysis of the second round of the French presidential election: Rayroux was interviewed on CTV News Channel and on CBC radio's 'Homerun' Friday afternoon for the run up to Sunday's election (no links available) and on CTV Montreal's News at Six on Saturday (starting from the 26:15 mark). Rayroux was later solicited by media for his insight into the election results: Le Devoir, Journal Métro.
- Daniel Salée, professor in the Department of Political Science and director of the First Peoples Studies Program in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is quoted throughout an article in Le Devoir about a symposium he has organized to look back on the 2007 UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The event is part of the 85th Congrès de l’Association francophone pour le savoir (Acfas), opening today at McGill.
- Le Devoir writes about a symposium, also part of the Congrès Acfas, marking the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the French-language charter, co-organized by Lorraine O'Donnell, affiliate associate professor in the School of Community and Public Affairs. A footnote to the article announces that Guy Lachapelle, political science professor in the Faculty of Arts and Science, was participating in yesterday's pre-convention discussion of the impact of Bill 101 on Quebec's anglophone minority.
- Kimberley Manning, principal of the Simone de Beauvoir Institute and professor of political science in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is quoted in media reports about last week's hearings in Ottawa of the Senate committee on legal and Constitutional Affairs as it studies Bill C-16 — the Transgender Rights Bill. Manning appeared before the committee alongside other parents of transgender children to plead for passage of the proposed legislation: Radio Canada International (in Spanish), Yahoo! News, Guelph Today, Travel and Leisure.
- Jordan Le Bel, associate professor of marketing in the John Molson School of Business, is quoted in an Ottawa Sun article that examines scent marketing.
