Expert commentators
Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:
- Jean-Philippe Warren, professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is quoted in a piece in Le Devoir (reprised by MSN actualités) on a perceived trend toward censorship on university campuses, where, according to the article's author, students and faculty are increasingly discouraged from broaching subjects that may offend certain sensibilities.
- Ian Irvine, professor of economics in the Faculty of Arts and Science, writes in The Globe and Mail about government subsidy policies aimed at encouraging the purchase of electric vehicles. Irvine says the subsidies are inefficient as a means of reducing carbon-dioxide emissions.
- David Elliott, painting professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts, is quoted in an article in Le Devoir on the death of pioneering pop artist James Rosenquist.
- Marketing lecturer in the John Molson School of Business, Bruno Delorme is quoted in an article on CBC.ca (reprised by Eastern Ontario Network TV, Sports Business News and My Informs) about Major League Baseball's possible return to Montreal.
- Gulf News announces that Faculty of Fine Arts lecturer Yassin 'Narcy' Alsalman will perform at the Dubai International Marine Club, in the UAE, this Wednesday and Thursday.
