Antarctic under pressure. Resilience in design.

• A WireService.ca news release describes a new study co-authored by Peter Stoett, professor of political science in the Faculty of Arts and Science and director of the Loyola Sustainability Research Centre, that examines biodiversity in the Antarctic. Stoett and his co-authors, an interdisciplinary group of 22 other researchers, illustrate how Antarctic biodiversity is under mounting pressure from tourism, climate change and transnational pollution. The study was published recently in PLOS Biology. The release is picked up by AMEQ en ligne (behind a paywall).
• Orit Halpern, professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the Faculty of Arts and Science, writes in e-flux about resilience in design and architecture, based on her research and her teaching.The article is part of the Accumulation series, produced in cooperation with the Speculative Life Cluster at Concordia's Milieux Institute and the Princeton Environmental Institute at Princeton University.
