Students

Current students at Concordia do outstanding academic work and get involved in community projects that improve our quality of life. See what they've been up to:

  • CTV News Montreal, Global News Montreal and the Montreal Gazette report on yesterday morning's news conference at the Concordia Student Union lounge, to announce an information campaign in support of international students who have been refused French-language competency certificates despite having passed Quebec government-accredited French-Language courses. The CTV News report includes appearances by CSU legal information clinic coordinator Walter Chi-Yan Tom (27-second mark) and CSU advocacy coordinator Sophia Sahrane (1:55 mark).
  • Mondoweiss picks up a brief from an earlier Canadian Press news story (carried by the Montreal Gazette) about Concordia graduate student Bissan Eid, a Canadian citizen who is unable to return to Canada from Gaza. Eid (BEng '15), who is currently working on her master's in engineering at Concordia, is eight months pregnant and wanted to return to Canada last December to give birth but has not been able to obtain an exit permit from Israel. Eid's family is urging the Canadian government to get involved and the CSU has launched a social media campaign to press the demand.
  • The weekly French-langage McGill student paper Le délit examines the recent decision by Concordia's The Link to cease its weekly paper publication in favour of its online edition.
