Various issues concerning Concordia University are often reported on by news outlets. Here is the most recent coverage pertaining to the institution:
- President Alan Shepard is among the signatories to an opinion piece in the Montreal Gazette, written by Hubert Bolduc, president and CEO of Montreal International. The piece looks at the challenges and opportunities for Montreal in the wake of a QS ranking that placed Montreal first in the world among student cities. The op-ed echoes one that appeared in the Montreal Gazette two weeks ago, written by Shepard.
- Concordia is referenced in an article in Wzaobao (in Chinese) about the above-mentioned "best student city" ranking.
- CTV News Montreal (video and text) reports on a "brain gain" for Montreal universities whose efforts to attract the brightest minds it says are being helped along by the U.S. drive to block travel from seven Muslim-majority countries. It says Concordia, referenced at the 1:25 mark of the video report, has extended its application deadline for prospective students from the targeted countries. The story is reprised and linked by My Informs.
- La Presse + publishes an op-ed by Jack Jedwab, president of the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and the Canadian Institute for Identities and Migration. Jedwab responds to an earlier opinion piece where the argument was made that multiculturalism doesn't exist in Quebec. He says such a notion can be dispelled by a quick visit to either Concordia or McGill.
- Le Journal de Montréal (PDF, attached) reports on the work of the 'Plan de match' program — a partnership between the Canadian Olympic Committee and numerous Quebec universities, including Concordia, designed to help student athletes juggle their studies and their competitive sports careers.
