Various issues concerning Concordia University are often reported on by news outlets. Here is the most recent coverage pertaining to the institution:
- President Alan Shepard writes an opinion piece in the Montreal Gazette in which he references a new QS survey that ranks Montreal as the number one student city in the world. Shepard reflects on recent political changes in the US and Europe and on the importance for Canada generally, and Montreal specifically, to seize every opportunity to grow what he calls "Brand Canada," as Canadian universities work to attract and retain scholars. He is also quoted from the opinion piece in a Montreal Gazette news article about the QS student-city ranking, and appeared on CJAD Radio's Leslie Roberts show this morning to discuss Montreal's ranking (no link available).
- BBC.com (reprised by Recent Newz), reporting on the new QS ranking, leads off with a picture of a group of Concordia students, standing alongside the Shuttle. The McGill Reporter, in its piece on the ranking, notes that Concordia was one of three Montreal universities that appeared in the QS World University Rankings last year. The others were McGill and Université de Montréal.
- The Jewish Voice reports on the return to the Max Stern Art Restitution Project of the 17th-century painting, Young Man As Bacchus by Dutch painter Jan Franse Verzijl. It names Concordia among the heirs of the Max Stern estate. The painting was among the thousands of pieces of art looted by the Nazis during the Second World War.
- The Canadian Press gives an account of the decision by the University of British Columbia to exclude fossil fuel companies from its low-carbon investment fund. The report references Concordia's partial fossil fuel divestment:CTVnews.ca, GlobalNews.ca, The New Glasgow News, The Northern View, News Caf, News95.7.com, Yahoo! Finance, New Hamburg Independent.
