Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • LaPresse.ca reprises an opinion piece from La Presse + by Jessica Roda, research associate at the Concordia Institute for Canadian Jewish Studies and postdoctoral fellow in Concordia's Centre for Ethnographic Research and Exhibition in the Aftermath of Violence (CEREV). Roda writes about the intolerance toward the Hassidim she sees in the recent  referendum result in the Montreal borough of Outremont in favour of a zoning by-law to bar the establishment of any new houses of worship in the borough.
  • Daniel Salée, professor in the Department of Political Science and in the School of Community and Public Affairs in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is interviewed for Radio-Canada's 'Espaces Autochtones'. Salée, heard from the 4:04-mark, talks about systemic racism toward First Nations peoples. The interviewer references an open letter onRadio-Canada written by Salée last week about the decision not to prosecute Sureté du Quebec police officers accused of mistreatment of Native women in Val-d'Or:
  • Please note: Fred Burrill, PhD candidate in the Department of History in the Faculty of Arts and Science, will be on CTV Montreal's noon news next Monday for an interview with Mutsumi Takahashi regarding gentrification in the borough of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
