Researchers in the news

The scholarly work of Concordia faculty and researchers informs and improves society on many issues that affect our daily lives. Visit the Research section to read news stories involving research at Concordia, or read the most recent items here:

  • The Daily Dot joins the worldwide coverage of work led by Mohammad Mannan, associate professor in the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering, and PhD candidate Lianying Zhao on development of the Hypnoguard home computer security system, noted for protecting data even when a computer is in sleep mode.
  • Jorgen Hansen, professor of economics in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is quoted in an article in The Globe and Mail about a proposal in New Brunswick that could see the provincial government there further restrict the number of hours per week that can be worked by teenagers in part-time jobs. The piece references Hansen's 2008 research paper  that found students aged 15 and 16 who worked more than five hours per week during school got poorer grades than those who didn’t.
  • Please note: Erin Barker, assistant professor of psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Science, will be a guest on CJAD's Natasha Hall Show, this Friday afternoon at 2:20, to discuss her research on stress and coping over the holidays.
