Students
Current students at Concordia do outstanding academic work and get involved in community projects that improve our quality of life. See what they've been up to:
- Concordia journalism students Joe Arciresi and Casandra DeMasi appeared on Global's 'Focus Montreal' program this weekend. The two discussed their work with New York Times managing editor and Concordia journalist-in-residence Patti Sonntag on an in-depth journalistic investigation focusing on the government response to a severe budworm infestation in northern Quebec. Latest Canada links back to the Global interview. The investigative piece, which appeared in the November 15 issue of The Walrus, is described in a brief in Word Press Magazine.
- Maclean's features the work of Concordia PhD student Laura Shine, who is studying North Americans' reticence to include insects in their diet. The online story includes a video clip of Shine at last Thursday's 'The Future of Education, The Future of Work' town hall, hosted by Concordia and Maclean's. Maclean's also features a discussion at the education town hall of the future of jobs in Canada.
- Pension Pulse posts a brief about the recent trip to Omaha by a group of 15 Concordia students for a four-hour visit with billionaire investor Warren Buffet.
- The McGill Daily reports on a recent student conference on the SGW campus, organized by Socialist Fightback at Concordia and McGill. The meeting featured discussions of the evolution of student and worker protests since the late 1960's.
