- Numerous media publish reports describing the Hypnoguard computer security system, developed by PhD candidate Lianying Zhao, with Mohammad Mannan, associate professor in the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering. Hypnoguard encrypts a computer’s random-access memory before it enters sleep mode, and then decrypts the data when the computer is awakened. Mannan and Zhao recently filed a provisional US patent for the system, which they hope will soon be available for installation on laptops: Phys.org, ECN Mag, Noodls, AMEQ en ligne (behind a paywall), Info High Tech, Science Blog.
- Conseiller joins coverage of an insurance industry study of mental health and health insurance claims in the workplace. The study, led by researchers at the Université de Montréal, involved the participation of unnamed researchers at Concordia.
