Students

Current students at Concordia do outstanding academic work and get involved in community projects that improve our quality of life. See what they've been up to:

  • The Walrus publishes an in-depth investigative piece written by Patti Sonntag, New York Times managing editor and inaugural Concordia journalist-in-residence. Sonntag, a Concordia alumna and Michener-Deacon journalism fellow, led an investigative group of students in Concordia's Department of Journalism on a probe of a multi-million-dollar deal between forestry companies in northern Quebec and the provincial government to help the companies cope with the effects of a severe spruce budworm infestation. The investigation revealed that the government investment appears to have failed to bring stability to Quebec's North Shore communities and may instead have caused new environmental damage.
  • LaPresse.ca and Finance et Investissement pick up news of a visit by a group of Concordia students to the Berkshire Hathaway office of Warren Buffet, in Omaha, this Friday. The 15 students, participating in the Kenneth Woods Portfolio Management program (KWPMP) at the John Molson School of Business, will spend about four hours with the investment magnate. KWPMP director Reena Atanasiadis, a senior lecturer of finance at JMSB, tells the papers that Buffet will answer the students' questions on numerous topics, including investment trends and the recent US elections.
  • Concordia exercise science student and rugby player Laetitia Royer is profiled on Info07.com.
  • Global News Montreal reports, in video and text, on the recent launch of a new university women’s water polo league in Quebec that includes players from Concordia.
