It was discovered that for several months, the Montreal Police had been surveilling the phone of La Presse columnist Patrick Lagacé to determine the identity of his sources. Linda Kay, professor in the Department of Journalism, can talk about why it's important to have protected sources and how the SPVM's actions infringe on the freedom of the press.
