University affairs

Various issues concerning Concordia University are often reported on by news outlets. Here is the most recent coverage pertaining to the institution:

  • A Human Rights Watch researcher, interviewed for CBC’s The Current, tells host Anna Maria Tremonti that Homa Hoodfar’s experience in Iran is not unique and describes how Iran has arrested many people — particularly dual nationals — on questionable charges. The segment opens with a clip from an earlier interview of Hoodfar following her return to Canada. The Hoodfar detention is mentioned in an article posted by the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reporting on a recent call by Lonnie Ali, widow of boxer Muhammad Ali, for the release by Iran of Iranian-Americans Siamak Namazi and his father Bagher Namazi.
  • The Regina Leader-Post reprises an earlier piece from the Montreal Gazette reporting that Montreal poet Kelly Norah Drukker is short-listed for the Concordia University First Book Prize for her debut collection, Small Fires. The short list is reported also in Newscaf (under the wrong headline and picture).
  • Academic Keys posts a tenure-track position for a cyber-security specialist in the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering.
