Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • Le Journal de Montréal (behind a paywall) and  Le Journal de Québec, writing about the latest education statistics in Quebec, quote Vivek Venkatesh, associate professor in the Department of Education, who says that while anglophone Quebecers, proportionately, may be more successful than their francopĥone counterparts in obtaining their high school diplomas, their overall scores in school aren't necessarily higher.
  • Allehanda (in Swedish) picks up an earlier article featuring Emer O'Toole, assistant professor in the School of Canadian Irish Studies, who explains her experiences as a feminist.
  • Le Devoir and Journal Métro, writing about the stir surrounding a recent poster campaign by the organization Éduc'alcool, remark on what is deemed the "condescending" reply from Éduc'alcool director Hubert Sacy to a letter of complaint about the poster from Peter C. van Wyck, professor in the Department of Communication Studies. Van Wyck is quoted in the Devoir piece.
  • Suzanne Reisler Litwin, an instructor in the School of Extended Learning and Concordia alumna (MA, educational technology) writes in The Suburban about Concordia psychology professor and department chair Richard Schmid, who she says taught her about the power of "active listening".
