Expert commentators
Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:
- Theresa Bianco, assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, is interviewed by Mutsumi Takahashi forCTV Montreal's Noon News about the pressures on elite athletes as they adapt to life after the Rio Olympics.
- Kyle Matthews, senior deputy director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS) at Concordia appears on the Radio Canada program '24 heures en 60 minutes' to discuss the recent suicide bombing of a Kurdish wedding in southeastern Turkey. The Matthews segment begins at the 25-minute mark.
- Frank Chalk, professor in the Department of History, is quoted in an article in LaPresse.ca about the Nigerian government's recent overtures to armed rebels in the Niger delta.
- Lorna Roth, professor in the Department of Communication Studies, is heard in a Vox video clip, posted to You Tube, describing "Shirley cards" — color reference cards used in photography — and how, for decades, color photography fed into a racial bias that favoured white people over darker-skinned people.
- Alex Megelas, of the Office of Community Engagement at Concordia, is paraphrased in two separate blog entries by McGill management professor Henry Mintzberg. The articles concern a panel discussion at the recent World Social Forum in Montreal focusing on how the plural sector can spur the private and public sectors into concerted action against climate change: the first blog post here, the second, here.
