  • Bucket List previews this year’s edition of Grimposium, a symposium featuring academic research into heavy metal music alongside live performances, interviews with musicians and a film screening. Grimposium is the brainchild of Vivek Venkatesh, associate professor in the Department of Education. A second story on Bucket List describes Grimposium as one of the activities in the Heavy Montreal music festival, also taking place this week.
  • A story on Radio-Canada International (in Spanish) about a Montreal restaurateur’s computer system being attacked in spite of antivirus protection refers to recent research by Mohammad Mannan, assistant professor in the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering and PhD student Xavier de Carné de Carnavalet, which indicates security programs frequently do more harm than good.
