Various issues concerning Concordia University are often reported on by news outlets. Here is the most recent coverage pertaining to the institution:

  • CBC.ca (reprised by MSN News and 24news.ca) and Radio-Canada (video and text) report that details are being leaked about the arrest in Iran of retired Concordia anthropology professor Homa Hoodfar, to the effect that she was detained on suspicion of fomenting a feminist revolution in Iran. Hoodfar's niece Amanda Ghahremani dismisses the reported accusation as absurd and without basis. The family says authorities at Tehran's Evin prison continue to refuse all contact with Hoodfar. The CBC Radio-Canada text story is reprised by Blog Mtl.
  • The Montreal Gazette, reprised by Canada News, Latest Canada and Canada.com, reports that Alan Shepard will serve a second term as President and Vice-Chancellor of Concordia, as announced on May 20 in a statement from Board of Governors chairman Norman Hébert. The Gazette brief quotes engineering professor Ted Stathopoulos, president of the Concordia University Faculty Association.
  • RP Online (in German) reports on the return of another Nazi-looted painting to the Max Stern Foundation: a painting by Düsseldorf School artist Wilhelm Krafft (1808-1850), presented yesterday at the Düsseldorf City museum. The article references the Max Stern Art Restitution Project, headed by Concordia under the leadership of Clarence Epstein, senior director of Urban and Cultural Affairs.
  • Le Devoir, writing about a proposal for the construction of a downtown annex of the HEC Montréal, notes that the area is already home to three business schools: Concordia's John Molson School of Business, and schools affiliated to McGill and UQAM.
