Expert commentators
Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:
- Ziv Rubinovitz, visiting scholar at the Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies, writes an analytical piece in Yedioth Ahronoth (in Hebrew) in which he ponders the potential impact on Israel of a Donald Trump and a Hillary Clinton presidency. He sees an isolationist in Trump and believes his unpredictable nature could hurt strategic relations between Israel and the Unites States in the long term. He believes Clinton would be a more stable anchor for relations between the two countries.
- MSN Nachrichten (in German) quotes Krista Byers-Heinlein, assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, in an article about children who learn multiple languages.
- The Suburban, writing about the Montreal International Jazz Festival, June 29th to July 9th, mentions Philip Cohen, founder of and adjunct professor in the Department of Music and artistic director of Concordia's multidisciplinary Leonardo Project. The reporter quotes Trevor Payne, director of the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir, who says he was deeply influenced by Cohen, whom he met at Concordia in the 1970s.
- El Watan writes that Maïr Verthuy, co-founder and first director of the Simone de Beauvoir Institute, was the guest of honour at a recent event in Montreal celebrating the work of Algerian author, the late Assia Djebar, who received an honorary degree from Concordia in 2002.
- Noodls (in Portugese) and Opera Mundi reprise an open letter denouncing the recent removal from office of Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff and whose signatories include Pablo Gilabert, associate professor in the Department of Philosophy.
