Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • TVANouvelles.ca links to an earlier story in Le Journal de Montréal quoting Gilbert Émond, associate professor in the Department of Applied Human Sciences, about a resurgence of the AIDS virus among under-35 Quebecers.
  • Nina Howe, professor in the Department of Education, talks to Laval Families Magazine about preparing children for a stay at a summer camp. She offers tips on reassuring children about their first away-from-home experience. Note that the article is authored by alumna Lili Monette-Crepo (BFA, theatre).
  • The Canadian Press posts a story that was widely circulated following the surprise resignation of Parti Québécois leader Pierre Karl Péladeau, earlier this month. It quotes Guy Lachapelle, professor in the Department of Political Science, who it notes is a member of the board of directors of the recently-formed Institut de recherche sur l’autodétermination des peuples et les indépendances nationales (IRAI), established by Péladeau to direct research into economic and other aspects of Quebec sovereignty.
  • Judith Woodsworth, professor of translation studies in the Département d'études françaises and former president of Concordia, is listed among the signatories to a letter in Le Devoir calling for the establishment of a federal translation secretariat
