Researchers in the news
The scholarly work of Concordia faculty and researchers informs and improves society on many issues that affect our daily lives. Visit the Research section to read news stories involving research at Concordia, or read the most recent items here:
- Damon Matthews, associate professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment, was interviewed for Radio Canada International yesterday and appeared this morning on the set of Montreal's Breakfast Television (no link available). He talked about the climate-change Countdown 2°C Clock installation he created with musician David Usher: Montrealers can see the climate clock projected onto the façade of a building at De Maisonneuve West and Guy, from dusk to midnight through Saturday April 23. The climate-change clock counts down the time researchers, including Matthews, say it will take to reach the critical threshold of 2°C above the world’s pre-industrial temperature.
- Numerous media report on new Concordia research led by Onur Bodur and co-authored by graduate student Maryam Tofighi that examines the willingness of consumers to pay more for environmentally and socially-sustainable products: Science Codex, Phys Org, Science Newsline, Health Medicine Network, NewsWise, AMEQ en ligne (behind a paywall). The study was published in the Journal of Retailing.
- Daily Vice and Vice's French site post video featuring the work of Joanna Berzowska, associate professor in the Department of Design and Computation Arts, research director of Concordia's design and research studio, XS Labs, and member of Milieux’s Textile and Materiality research cluster, on development of electronic textiles and reactive garments.
