Students
Current students at Concordia do outstanding academic work and get involved in community projects that improve our quality of life. See what they've been up to:
- Undergraduate student Lucas Lawton, finishing his second year in communication studies, is featured in theMontreal Gazette after winning the championship trophy at a recent Irish dance competition in Glasgow, Scotland.
- A CNW release lists teams of students from Concordia among the winners at the recent 2016 Ubisoft Game Lab Competition: one group of Concordians won a $2,000 prize for best quality of camera, characters and controls for its video game prototype 'Radiant Crusade'; a second group from Concordia, teamed up with students from McGill, won $2,000 for best creativity and theme integration for the game, 'Lumina'. The release is picked up by Le Lézard, Globe Advisor and Shaw Connect. Radio Canada International posts a text story about the competition.
- Art educator Jethro Gillespie, currently working on his PhD in art education at Concordia, is profiled in an article in the Utah Valley Daily Herald.
- Concordia Masters student Gregory Coulter, currently researching slavery in Quebec, is quoted in a piece on Mtl Blog listing what the author says are little-known facts about Montreal, including the presence in the city of over 1,500 slaves when slavery was still allowed in Canada, until 1833.
- Lifestyle blogger and Concordia history student Miranda Cipolla, writing in Mtl Blog, lists the John Molson School of Business among the educational institutions she says make Canada great. In a separate piece for Mtl Blog, Cipolla, writing about the lead characters in the 'Gilmore Girls' television series, likens the sometimes-mellow, sometimes-gritty personality of character Rory Gilmore to Concordia university, with its two distinct campuses, one deemed grittier than the other.
