  • Researchers at Concordia are featured in two articles in the April/May issue of Québec Science. Please note: the links to these articles will automatically open a tab in your browser. However, the folder will download into the default download folder on your computer. The first article, 'Voler vers le futur', focusing on Concordia's Institute of Aerospace Design & Innovation (CIADI), looks at the design and construction of the aircraft of the future: Suong Van Hoa, professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, and research assistant Jeffrey Fortin-Simpson, a master's student in the department, are quoted at length about their work with Concordia's XTP-500 robot to design new, lighter and more resistant materials for aircraft construction. Mechanical and Industrial Engineering professor Christian Moreau is featured in the same article, dealing with his work with engineers at Pratt and Whitney Canada to design lighter, more efficient and durable aircraft engines. Nadia Bhuiyan, professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and associate director of CIADI, collaborated closely on the preparation of the article. The second article, 'L'Intelligence prêt-à-porter', dealing with research into and design of smartwear, features Joanna Berzowska, associate professor in the Department of Design and Computation Arts and research director of Concordia's design and research studio, XS Labs, and her work on electronic textiles and reactive garments.
  • Horizon Magazine writes about 'What We Did', a new video game designed by Rilla Khaled, associate professor in the Department of Design and Computation Arts. The game tries to make players question their own world view by confronting them with different social values, practices, and actions.
