Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • Radio-Canada.ca, writing about the United Nations' World Water Day, tomorrow, quotes Govind Gopakumar, assistant professor in and associate chair of the Centre for Engineering in Society, about the challenge of providing drinking water to people the world over.
  • Kyle Matthews, senior deputy director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies at Concordia, tells The Globe and Mail that the Canadian government is avoiding the term "genocide" when describing ISIS atrocities because, in his estimation, the current Canadian mission against the Islamic State does nothing to stop genocide. The article is reprised by lidtime.com.
  • Mireille Paquet, assistant professor in the Department of Political Science, appeared in a CTV Montreal report last Friday, at the 1:44 mark, and was quoted in the text version of the story about last week's arrest of former deputy premier Nathalie Normandeau and certain others by the Unité permanente anticorruption (UPAC).
  • Finance et Investissement and Courrier Frontenac reprise an article from Les Affaires quoting Michel Magnan, management professor and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Corporate Governance. The article concerns the tax savings amassed by some of Quebec's top CEO's who took stock options as remuneration.
