Students
Current students at Concordia do outstanding academic work and get involved in community projects that improve our quality of life. See what they've been up to:
- John Molson School of Business undergraduate student and competitive triathlete Xavier Grenier-Talavera (accountancy) is interviewed for Triathlon Magazine Canada.
- An article in Le Soleil about the growth of Quebec's two new university student associations — Union étudiante du Québec (UEQ) and Association pour une voix étudiante au Québec (AVEQ) — notes that Concordia undergraduates, under the CSU, are aligned with AVEQ.
- Psychology student Kinan Swaid, president of the Concordia Syrian Students’ Association, is quoted in stories on GlobalNews.ca and CJAD.com about yesterday's march in downtown Montreal to mark the fifth anniversary of the Syrian uprising. An earlier GlobalNews.ca article previewing the march mentioned Yaman Alqadri, a Concordia student who arrived from Syria in 2012. Alqadri, is quoted in the Montreal Gazette and Ottawa Citizen and appears also in a news report, video and text, on CTV Montreal News. She is seen at the 1:33 mark of the television report.
- Le Journal de Montréal, Radio-Canada.ca (text and video), RDS.ca, CFL.ca and BCLions.com, reporting on yesterday's CFL national combine in Toronto, write that Stinger's football player Mikael Charland finished among the top four in three of the four events presented. Charland appears at the 21-second mark of the Radio Canada television report.
- A brief in the Montreal Gazette announces that Stingers hockey player Olivier Hinse has won the Ontario University Athletics association's Dr. Randy Gregg Award of Merit for the player who best combined hockey, academics and community involvement.
- Film production student Olivier Perrier is featured in an article in La Frontière de Rouyn-Noranda.
- Le Devoir lists Concordia among universities that will have teams of students participating in the Risque en série/Serial Risk reality TV symposium, opening tomorrow in Montreal.
- Studio arts student Coltrane McDowell writes a piece for CBC.ca' s series about race relations, Real Talk on Race.
- Université de Montréal student paper Quartier Libre announces Vista, a show of the sculpting work of Annie Descôteaux, a master's student in the Faculty of Fine Arts, on now until April 2 at the Galerie B-312.
