Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • Kyle Matthews, senior deputy director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS) at Concordia, is quoted in an article in LaPresse.ca about an effort by the Trudeau government to obtain the resignations of three members of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) who had been appointed by the previous government. Matthews, who the article notes had previously worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and has advised Members of Parliament on issues related to international peace and security, says he believes the IRB is in need of reform.
  • Jordan LeBel, director of the Executive MBA program at the John Molson School of Business, is one of two experts enlisted by Journal Métro to ponder food marketing trends in 2016. Le Bel foresees a greater effort by players in the food production industry to keep consumers informed about where their food comes from and how it is handled or transformed. He also sees online grocery shopping gaining in popularity this year.
  • Gabrielle Trépannier Jobin, a professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, is listed among the members of a  selection committee in a call in Calenda for articles for the next edition of UQAM's Cahiers du Gerse.
