The scholarly work of Concordia faculty and researchers informs and improves society on many issues that affect our daily lives. Visit the Research section to read news stories involving research at Concordia, or read the most recent items here:
- Lab Manager joins the media that have reported on a five-year study of the 'flipped' classroom. Calvin Kalman, a professor in the Department of Physics and principal of Concordia's Science College, conducted the study, along with a team of researchers, in hopes of improving the learning experience of physics students. The flipped classroom puts students in a collaborative learning environment where they can engage in what is termed 'reflective writing' about what they learn from their textbooks, peers and teachers.
- An article in Voir Vert featuring the new net-zero-energy library in south-shore Varennes notes the involvement of the Concordia-based Solar Buildings Research Network (SBRN) in the building's design.
- Project Muse publishes a review of Oral History at the Crossroads: Sharing Life Stories of Survival and Displacement (UBC Press, 2014), by Steven High, professor and Canada Research Chair in Public History at Concordia and co-director of the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling (COHDS). The book springs from a collaborative project called 'Montreal Life Stories', documenting and curating the life stories of Montrealers displaced by war, genocide and other mass human rights violations.
